Rémy Martin’s 300th anniversary is a celebration of dreams and looking forward

Here’s all you need to know about Rémy Martin’s 300th anniversary celebrations — from Bartender Talent Academy to the limited edition Coupe.

Very often in life, we look at the idea of timelessness as something that’s significant. The notion that something or someone can withstand the test of time (and generations) is one of admiration and inspiration. Such is the case with French cognac house, Rémy Martin — beloved for its masterfully crafted blends of golden spirit. 2024 marks Rémy Martin‘s 300th anniversary and nothing says classic than a name that has been around for not one but three centuries.

To celebrate its impeccable milestone, Rémy Martin has planned a myriad of exciting programmes throughout the world including here in Malaysia. Curated along the theme ‘We Dream Forward’, the celebrations will focus on bridging and merging the Maison’s past, present and future — which will also see the reopening of its historical building in the Cognac region this coming Spring.

There’s just to much to look forward with RÉMY 300; from the Rémy Martin Bartender Talent Academy competition to a massive party in Kuala Lumpur headlined by Marnik. In the words of Jean-Philippe Hecquet (CEO of Rémy Martin): “Celebrating 300 years of history is a milestone for Rémy Martin. By inviting our consumers to explore our craft and story and by teaming up with the most promising creative talents, together we build exceptional cognacs for the next generation”.

The Bartender Talent Academy in Malaysia

As part of its tricentenary celebrations, Rémy Martin is hosting a competition comprising a plethora of international bars throughout the months of April and May. That includes a selection of local bars from Malaysia too who will compete based on innovative cocktails crafted using at least 30ml of Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal. Bars from Malaysia are Bā by 61 Monarchy, Bar Trigona, Hyde at 53M, Penrose, Three X Co, Woobar, Backdoor Bodega, Drunken Gelato, Good Friends Club, No Bar Here, Cabinet 8 by JWC and Tales Creator.

The top three bars from Malaysia winner were announced on 26 April and they showcased their respective cocktails at the Rémy Martin 300th Anniversary party on 9 May. They were judged by both guests and judges during the much-anticipated occasion — each having to create a mystery cocktail based on a specific customer request. In the end, Thanesh Joel of Backdoor Bodega won first place with Melvin Lim of Bar Trigona as first runner-up and Lai YS of Penrose getting second runner-up. Next, Thanesh Joel will be headed to France in September 2024 for the Global Finals — joining 23 other contestants from around the world. You can also check out Thanesh’s cocktail, ‘Val D’or’, at Backdoor Bodega. Exciting!

All about the Rémy Martin 300th Anniversary Party

Rémy Martin threw a fun party to remember on 9 May in conjunction with its 300th anniversary. The event, held in Gemu, saw the Maison shine a light on its illustrious history — while unveiling its goals for the future. The dress code, ‘A Dash Of Gold’, aligns perfectly with the Maison’s codes.

In addition to the announcement of Malaysia’s Bartender Talent Academy, Rémy Martin’s party was headlined by Eurodance DJ duo MARNIK. The beloved act — known for hits such as ‘Alone’, ‘Bella Ciao’, ‘Butterfly’ and ‘Up & Down’ — had guests dancing and vibing throughout the evening. Comprising Alessandro Martello and Emanuele Longo, the Italian house DJs brought their infectious sounds to the Maison of Rémy Martin. At the party, guests were also treated to specially curated cocktails by the finalists of Bartender Talent Academy.

The celebration is also an allusion to Rémy Martin’s target of sustainable exception. That includes having its 250-hectare wide estates be completely sustainable by 2028. Furthermore, the Maison is also planning to work with internal and external experts to train its partner winegrowers — embarking on the green journey together.

Get to know the limited edition 300th Anniversary Coupe

Rémy Martin’s 300th anniversary celebrations continue to take flight with the introduction of the one-of-a-kind 300th Anniversary Coupe. Crafted by Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau, the 300th Anniversary Coupe is made using only eaux-de-vie from the Grande Champagne region. The amber patina hue is a result of fusing Loiseau’s own selections with the “Réserve Perpétuelle”. Together with the blends utilised to commemorate the Maison’s 290th and 275th anniversaries, the 300th Anniversary Coupe is truly an exceptional creation.

There are only 6,724 bottles in the world, making the 300th Anniversary Coupe a true collector’s dream. As a nod to Rémy Martin’s step into the future, the cognac’s bottle is housed in a contemporary reimagining of its 250th anniversary release. Characteristics to note include its wine bottle shape as well as its reliefs which are formatted in accordance to the Centaur’s javelin. Moreover, to ensure the attention is on the beautiful liquid, Rémy Martin has designed the bottle to be transparent.

On the nose, the 300th Anniversary Coupe exudes notes of mixed spices, sandalwood, passion fruit and candied orange. On the palate, expect to experience hints of nuts, exotic fruits and figs. The lingering fruity expression gives the limited edition blend a tasting encounter to treasure.

The limited edition 300th Anniversary Coupe — priced at RM12,000 each — can be purchased by contacting Elyria Chiak at elyria.chiak@remy-cointreau.com. There will only be 80 units available here in Malaysia.
