New watches in the spirit of the 2024 Summer Olympics from OMEGA, Bell & Ross and more

It’s the Olympics season yet again, and spirits are high! In conjunction with the legendary Games held every four years, we’ve compiled a list of timepieces celebrating the spirit of competition and the vigour of sport.

Whether or not you’re a sports fan, there’s no doubt that the Summer Olympics season is an exciting one. Every four years, people from nations across the world gather to watch and root for the athletes representing their home countries; social media is abuzz with talk of uniforms; the official opening ceremony is, once again, not to be outdone. As the world continues to weigh in on Paris 2024, we’ve put together some of the most elegant and standout timepieces that all link back to a common theme: sports.

From OMEGA’s direct tribute to Olympic glory in its bronze gold creation to the Kiel Sport, a unique blend of sportiness and precision by German watchmaker Laco, these watches are worth taking a gander at for their creative interpretations alone.

New watches for July & August 2024:

OMEGA Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition

As the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932, we’re starting with the big gun. It’s in the name: the OMEGA Paris 2024 Bronze Gold Edition incorporates all of the legendary materials of the coveted Olympic Games prize into one collectible design. The timepiece is encompassed by a 39mm case crafted from OMEGA’s exclusive Bronze Gold and features a radiant dial made from Ag 925 silver, and completed with slender hands in 18K SednaTM Gold with a special PVD Bronze Gold coating. The impeccable vintage design is inspired by a classic 1939 OMEGA wristwatch, recalling the Swiss brand’s early years of timekeeping. Paying homage to the Olympic host city this season, at the centre of the watch’s dial is the “Clous de Paris” pattern, which of course has its roots in French craftsmanship. And the grand touch? The caseback is decorated with a stamped and frosted Olympic Games Paris 2024 medallion.

Charles Jourdan Ludis CJ1122

‘Ludis’ in Latin can mean both ‘sport’ and ‘play’ — and the all-new Charles Jourdan Ludis watch is the ultimate blend of power and elegance. Sophisticated details, precise movements, unparalleled style… what more could you ask for? This men’s watch comes in an array of eight colourways and is encased in an eye-catching rectangular stainless steel case. Robust and durable, the sapphire crystal protecting the dial also ensures perfect legibility of the watch’s displays wherever you may be. On the opposite side of the case, the Charles Jourdan logo is laser-etched, sleek and elegant. Tying it all together is the stunning multi-level dial on the Ludis timepiece, with its intricate details — bold hour-markers complementing the sword and arrow hands, made very readable in low light by the luminescent paint. The dial’s background, however, is its main star. Boasting a horizontal stripe texture that’s reminiscent of engine parts in a sports car, it certainly adds an extra layer of dynamism to the already sporty timepiece. To finish off, the watch features a silicone strap with a stylish waffle texture design that makes it highly practical and comfortable, especially in hot climates like ours.

Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Patrouille de France

While not exactly a brand new timepiece, Paris 2024 is perhaps the best time to bring back Bell & Ross’ BR 03-92 Patrouille de France for the occasion. Combining technical know-how and contemporary design (while of course, being inspired by pilots and designed with pilots in mind), the watch marks a celebration of its collaboration with the precision aerobatics unit La Patrouille de France — which just celebrated its 70th anniversary last year. And this year, La Patrouille de France left quite a lasting impression during the Olympic Games’ opening ceremony. The blue of the BR 03-92 Patrouille de France dial certainly evokes the colour of the Alpha Jet of the Patrouille de France, while the insignia of this elite display team and the specific logo of its 70th anniversary appear at the heart of this dial — subtly circled in the colours of the French flag.

Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillon Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition

Limited to just 12 pieces, the Laurent Ferrier Grand Sport Tourbillon Sincere Platinum Jubilee Edition is launched in celebration of Sincere Fine Watches’ 70th anniversary, and it is every bit as unique as you might think. The watch’s petrol green guilloché dial alone is uniquely crafted and marks the first guilloché dial in Laurent Ferrier’s Grand Sport Tourbillon collection. On top of that, it’s housed in a 44 mm red gold case. The one-of-a-kind shade of teal and black gradient is also a first for Laurent Ferrier, and is inspired by the waves of the South China Sea that borders Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia (where Sincere Fine Watches has established a strong presence in). Of course, not forgetting Laurent Ferrier’s dedication to legibility. White Super-Luminova was chosen for the watch’s Assegai-shaped hands and drop-shaped indices, which perfectly complement the finely snailed small seconds’ display. And to add contrast, the white gold hands and indices are treated with ruthenium — giving this exclusive Jubilee Edition the grandiose element it deserves.

Laco Kiel Sport

Laco has always been a watchmaker that believes in tradition, but with the new Kiel Sport — yet another chronograph added to its range — the characteristic DNA of the German brand is now complemented by a ‘sporty’ accent. Unlike Laco’s existing Kiel models, this sporty take features a unidirectional rotating bezel. And thanks to state-of-the-art materials, its durability and precision, and a stopwatch function, the new timepiece is both a stylish and reliable companion for not just everyday life but also during outdoor sports activities. The dial, with its pilot watch aesthetics, is housed in a 43mm stainless steel case with a dark sandblasted surface. Its bright indices and hands are also thermally blued, creating clear contrasts under the watch’s anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Finally, the Kiel Sport comes with a black calf leather strap with light stitching, and rounded off by a dark sandblasted pin buckle with the Laco logo — echoing the finish of the case.
