Netflix’s Geek Girl is every fashion lover’s newest OTT obsession, courtesy of its exciting plot that revolves around a young supermodel confronting uptight agents, offbeat designers and impossibly high heels.
Based on Holly Smale’s YA novel series, Geek Girl follows Harriet Manners (Emily Carey from House of the Dragon), whose life goes for a toss when she gets thrown into the fashion industry.
Season 1 of the teen series filled with 10 episodes of drama, comedy and endearing moments is garnering a lot of attention from fans and critics alike.
In light of a growing fanbase, we look at the potential of a Geek Girl season 2, its cast, potential plot and Harriet Manners’s new adventures.
‘Geek Girl’ season 2: Is the Netflix show getting renewed?
Emily Carey has expressed her enthusiasm for a second season of the Netflix show. Despite the conclusion of the first season, Carey believes that “the story is not necessarily over,” hinting at potential developments for her character, Harriet Manners.
“I’d love for people to want to know what happens to Harriet next, and I’d love to revisit Harriet,” actor Emily Carey told Radio Times, adding, “She was so much fun [to play]. And this cast is one of the best I’ve ever worked with. I know it’s so cliché and every actor says this about their show, but it is like a family. We all get along so well and I adore them. We had the best summer. And so the thought of being able to do that again is very exciting.”
Besides, the teen drama is based on Holly Smale’s YA novel series that offers ample source material for future seasons, making the chances for a season 2 even brighter.
“Season 1 is book 1, and then we pulled stories in from 2 and 3 to adapt it for the screen. There’s a lot of source material, so it’s definitely a show that could go on and on and on. The story is not necessarily over at the end of season 1,” added Carey.
Who could reprise their role for ‘Geek Girl’ season 2?
Alongside Carey as Harriet, we’d expect other cast members, including Rochelle Harrington (Natalie Grey), Liam Woodrum (Nick Park), Tim Downie (Richard Manners), Emmanuel Imani (Wilbur Evans), Jemima Rooper (Annabel Manners) and Zac Looker (Toby Pilgrim), to return for season 2.
And it’s likely fans will see some new faces as well.
What could be the potential plot of ‘Geek Girl’ season 2?
In a potential second season of the teen drama, the storyline is expected to continue with Harriet’s blossoming modelling career and her relationship with Nick. The obstacles they face are likely to intensify, adding drama to the series. Despite overcoming challenges in season 1, Harriet’s anxieties may resurface, but her growth and self-acceptance will continue to be a central theme.
Well, if the show is renewed, fans can anticipate more catwalks, photoshoots, and romantic moments between Harriet and Nick.
