Our June digital cover star, Hun Haqeem, has already made it big for himself in the world of showbiz. Here, he shares some lesser-known facts about himself — including some rather interesting tidbits.
We sit down with megastar Hun Haqeem to find out some things that you may or may not yet know about him. The 26-year-old actor dishes on a couple of lesser-known facts about himself, including some of his favourite films growing up.
Five facts about Hun Haqeem:
#1. Hun is a lover of music, and word is, he has upcoming plans… to release his own songs! A true introvert, he reveals that he cannot go anywhere without his AirPods and likes to listen to music in anything he does. Music is such a big part of Hun’s life, so much that he wants to dive into it completely. Currently, he is in the midst of composing a few songs — and he hopes to be able to release the first one this year. Fingers crossed!
#2. He’s a fan of the original Star Wars trilogy. “Star Trek Into Darkness is one of my favourite movies,” the actor admits, “but I would say I’m definitely more of a Star Wars fan.” He loves the original Star Wars trilogy featuring Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia — and, having grown up in the ‘00s, Hun has a slight fondness for the sequel trilogy as well.
#3. He uses his love of photography as a means to connect with people. Hun often struggles with starting conversations with people due to his shyness, but photography, he says, has been a great way to deal with it. He likes to take photos of the people around him and capture their relationships in the most natural manner (candid shots are, after all, the best kind!) and after, he would offer to transfer the photos to them if they are happy with the results.
#4. He’s a big nature person. For his job — and also during his downtime — Hun gets to travel to all kinds of cities and places. But his favourite travel destination of all time is Lombok, Indonesia. Lush greenery, cascading waterfalls, clear skies… these are just a handful of things that Hun truly loves. “I’m just a nature person,” he says. “And I love stars. I’m a sucker for stars. In Lombok, I saw, like, 12 shooting stars. I couldn’t believe it. It was crazy. So, I would say Lombok is the best so far.”
#5. W: Two Worlds has been his most physically-challenging role to date. To prepare for his lead role of Aliff Hadi in the local adaptation of the popular K-Drama W: Two Worlds, Hun had to undergo a drastic body transformation for the role. He lost 12 kilograms in one month and did daily fighting and stunt choreography. Just before shooting wrapped, Hun sustained a serious ACL injury — but spurred on by his own passion and everyone else’s on set, he managed to work through it till the end.
