Taylor Swift peaks Billboard 200’s top 10, beats The Beatles’ most weeks record of 60 years

No stranger to chart-toppers, Taylor Swift creates yet another mammoth record. This time, she overtakes The Beatles for the highest number of weeks spent among the top 10 on the Billboard 200 list.

Her 16 top 10 albums have netted a staggering 384 weeks combined on the list, dethroning the band who clocked in 382 weeks with 32 top 10 albums.

More about Taylor Swift’s new Billboard achievement

With this indelible feat, Swift has not only surpassed the Fab Four but has also marked the most weeks spent in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart over the past 60 years.

On the latest Billboard 200 list, three of her former No. 1 albums — 1989 (Taylor’s Version) (2023) at No. 6, Lover (2019) at No. 7 and Midnights (2022) at No. 9 — took the tally to 384 weeks. Interestingly, although they are part of the top tier in one week, the tally will be counted for three weeks.

This comes shortly after she won Best Pop Vocal Of The Year and Best Album Of The Year for Midnights at the 2024 Grammy Awards. She announced her new album Tortured Poets Department while receiving accolades. The album is set to release on 19 April 2024.

Taylor Swift’s journey to the Billboard 200 top 10

“Swift first visited the top 10 on the Nov. 24, 2007-dated chart when her self-titled debut climbed 26-8,” mentions Billboard.

Her most successful albums that spent the highest number of weeks in the elite bracket include Midnights, with 68 weeks; followed by 1989, with 60 weeks; Fearless (2008), with 58 weeks; Lover, with 54 weeks; and Folklore (2020) with 30 weeks.

She also made a sweeping record for being the first solo music act to spend 100 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart.

The record held by The Beatles

The legendary rock band, comprising John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, has also had a stunning time in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart.

Their first foray into the top 10 was on the 8 February 1964 chart. “Meet the Beatles! vaulted 92-3,” states Billboard. It was on the 12 November 2022 chart that saw them make their way to the top 10 when a deluxe reissue of Revolver (1966) entered at No. 4.

Their top five albums with the most weeks in the top 10 are Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), with 35 weeks; Abbey Road (1969) and A Hard Day’s Night (1964), with 28 weeks each; Meet the Beatles! (1964), with 21 weeks; and the compilation album 1 (2000) with 20 weeks.
