Claudia Tan to represent Malaysia at Jameson Distilled Sounds with mentor Anderson .Paak

Get to know Jameson Distilled Sounds, the whiskey distiller’s inaugural music programme featuring Anderson .Paak, Claudia Tan and more.

When it comes to showcasing and highlighting musical talents, Jameson has always been at the forefront. The Irish whiskey maker, a brand under the Pernod Ricard family, is steadfast and committed in its mission to provide platforms for musicians and artists to shine. We saw that during the recent Jameson REWIND event at The Godown where a myriad of Malaysian acts such as Lost Spaces, Saint Kylo and TY:DEL performed.

This year, Jameson is embarking on a whole new chapter of rhythmic proportions — the launch of Distilled Sounds. Led by Anderson .Paak (Jameson’s first ‘Music Distiller), the music programme will see the brand bring together musical acts from all across the world, including Malaysia’s very own Claudia Tan (who also performed at the Jameson REWIND party). Yes, you read that right! The Kuching-born ‘Bodies’ and ‘Feel Alive’ singer will join a plethora of talents (also known as the Distilled Sounds contingent) in Ireland as they experience mentorship by Grammy Award winner Anderson .Paak.

In fact, the Malaysian talent will eventually be releasing an array of content in partnership with Jameson Distilled Sounds. Here’s what she had to say about being part of the programme: “I’m incredibly [honoured] to be the first Malaysian artist to take part in this [programme], and am excited to be mentored by one of the greatest creatives in the music industry. Anderson .Paak is a music visionary, and I can’t wait to learn all I can during my sessions with him so that I can refine my own craft and be the best artist I can possibly be”.

Genre experimentation, be it Amapiano or K-Pop, takes centre stage at the Jameson Sound Distillery as musicians get to collaborate and partner with each other during their time in Ireland. From writing and recording to producing and performing, this exciting music programme aims to help spark ideas and opportunities for growth.

And here’s what Anderson .Paak had to say about the programme: “The Sound Distillery will enable artists from across the globe to get in a room together to unlock the magic of connection. The connection and energy needed for song writing is best served face to face, so we’ll be bringing artists from across the world to Ireland, where they’ll engage in a week’s worth of creativity, jamming and making new music in our Sound Distillery”.

To commemorate the launch of the inaugural Jameson Distilled Sounds, the brand teamed up with director Glenn Kitson on a short comedy film (watch here). The four-minute video features ‘Leave The Door Open’ singer Anderson .Paak and DJ Pee .Wee (also played by the musician) — as they speak to each other in JJ Smoove 178.0, Jameson’s “radio station”.

We can’t wait to find out the magic that Anderson .Paak, Claudia Tan and the other talents will be making together in Ireland this August. After all, it’s all about finding the element that connects one another and Jameson’s International Marketing Director, Joao Rozario, expresses it best: “Jameson Distilled Sounds will connect our music family from all over the world who share the same spirit. This chimes with our global positioning that if people share the same spirit and values, smooth, welcoming and light-hearted, then no matter where they are from, they Must Be A Jameson”. We can’t agree more.
