The latest addition to the Mercedes-Benz GLC family promises both elegance and excellence.
It’s an undeniable fact by now that the Mercedes-Benz GLC family assembles among the best SUVs in the market — and has continued to uphold this, especially with the release of the GLC 300 4MATIC earlier this year. The new GLC embodies both elegance and sporty driving, all while maintaining opulent comfort. Thus, whether you’re cruising along the highway or taking on city roads, the latest addition to Mercedes-Benz’s GLC family ensures nothing less than top-tier performance.
According to Bettina Plangger, the Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Mercedes-Benz Cars Malaysia and SEA II, the launch of this latest GLC marks a new milestone for Mercedes-Benz, living up to the brand’s commitment to delivering uncompromised quality to Malaysian customers. So, what exactly makes the new Mercedes-Benz GLC stand out among its peers? Here’s the full lowdown.
Same expressive exterior, new ‘polished’ design
Right off the bat, you can recognise the new GLC as a member of the Mercedes-Benz SUV family. From its athletic AMG Line — the feature that gives Mercedes-Benz models their signature sporty look and undeniable statement of class — to its precisely shaped edges in the sides, it’s clear that the new GLC aims high. These edges not only bring out the model’s unique proportions but also accentuate its muscular wheel arches, striking a balance between style and off-road capability.
But the crowning moment of the new GLC is, of course, the addition of a Panoramic sliding sunroof, which provides a bright, pleasant ambience that pools into the car’s interior. When viewed from the outside, the large sliding transparent sunroof makes a unique visual impression on the eyes, lending the exterior a sense of lightness and exclusivity.
On top of that, the new GLC comes fully equipped with polished aluminium roof rails and aluminium-look running boards with rubber studs, giving it an altogether lightweight feel while also keeping it fuel-efficient. And as for the rear view? The new, refined design comes with a simulated underguard in chrome look (as do the tailpipe trims), and the two-part rear lights with three-dimensional design are seamlessly connected by a glossy black trim element.
With Mercedes-Benz, safety always comes first — and so, the new GLC also comes with DIGITAL LIGHT, which perfectly adapts the illumination of the road to the lighting, traffic situation, the course of the road and the weather so that you never have to fret about driving in less-than-ideal conditions.
All that ‘glitters’ in the new GLC’s interior
On the inside, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC maintains that classy feel, this time with a more tangible touch of sportiness. What’s distinctive about the AMG Line is that it includes some key features, such as ARTICO man-made leather upholstery in black, and sports pedals. This multifunction sports steering wheel comes in nappa leather, making its unique design stand out — and features double spokes in the horizontal position and a flattened bottom section. It draws inspiration from (and also brings to mind) exciting motorsport features, which enhances the cockpit’s whole aesthetic appeal.
And the defining feature of the interior? The offroad drive program, available on the new and updated system. What this means is when you’re in off-road mode, the GLC — thanks to its 360-degree camera that comes with its new Parking package — provides a ‘transparent bonnet’ on the central display, offering a virtual view beneath the front of the vehicle, even the front wheels and steering position. This system (12.3-inch high-resolution driver display and 11.9-inch central display), as well as the dashboard, are both positioned in front of the driver and clearly structured for ease of use. Made to be user-friendly and completely stress-free, the system puts into practice the latest generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) to keep things totally smooth for you, the driver.
Enjoy seamless full-screen navigation that gives you the best possible route guidance with Augmented Reality (AR) and amazing audio performance with Burmester® 3D surround sound system. Got a lot of loading and unloading to do? Save time — and stress! — as the GLC also comes with HANDS-FREE ACCESS. The sensor area underneath the rear bumper is sensitive enough to detect a simple kicking motion with the foot, allowing the tailgate to open and close without any contact needed.
It’s clear, when all is said and done, that the new Mercedes-Benz GLC continues its legacy, marking a new milestone for the brand’s history. From its polished exterior to its even more intelligent display system in the interior, there’s much to admire in the new GLC. For the Malaysian market, you’ll be happy to know that Mercedes-Benz Financial is also offering the Step Up Agility+ Plan, which comes with lots of benefits such as lower monthly instalment, flexible end of agreement options, MobilityPlus* programme and a future value of your car guaranteed — no matter what happens.
