Sabato De Sarno’s first menswear collection for Gucci is a continuation of the Ancora spirit. Here’s what went down.
All eyes were on Sabato De Sarno at Milan’s Fondera Carlo Macchi as the Creative Director unveiled his first ever menswear collection for Gucci. The Men’s Fall Winter 2024 — continuing from his realm of Ancora — takes the cake with sartorial styles. As models walked the runway, music curated by Mark Ronson played; setting the mood with tunes such as ‘Late Night Feelings’ and ‘Love Her’ by Romy.
Zipped jackets and trench coats are tailored with finesse for a poise look whereas elements such as the crystal studs add a sense of freedom. Of course, Gucci Rosso appeared with prevalence throughout the collection; seen on everything from crossbody bags to leather jackets. Notable looks from the Gucci Men’s Fall Winter 2024 collection include a tuxedo with double-breasted blazers made in black and white as well as a structured cerulean trench coat.
Sabato De Sarno’s menswear for Gucci is a reflection of his debut womenswear collection. Reiterations were executed with precision, now with the designs taking a more minimalist approach. Well, at least when compared to Alessandro Michele’s stint at the House. It’s sexy yet understated, uncomplicated yet cultivated. Ultimately, De Sarno’s pieces are very wearable — be it for work, a bubbly brunch or a fun night out with friends.
The Gucci Men’s Fall Winter 2024 collection is an allusion to change amidst the constant. It’s about finding happiness and positivity in the everyday. And in the words of De Sarno himself: “It’s a story of music and nights out, of sweat, dancing, and singing. It’s a story of family, of kissing, lots and lots of kisses. It’s a story of everything, again, but this time expressed through joy”.
