Syed Syafiq and Wen Wei personify urban creatives in Tommy Hilfiger’s TH Monogram

In our fashion spread with Tommy Hilfiger, Syed Syafiq and Wen Wei share about their lives as urban creatives in the new TH Monogram.

Tick, tock, tick, tock. The clock goes by — full of excitement and buzz — as we anticipate the arrivals of the young and enigmatic stars of the day. The lively studio, amplified by fun pop numbers, sees a change in energy as both Wen Wei and Syed Syafiq step foot into the space. Ah, the urban creatives are here!

In their calmest and most collected mannerisms (and some may even say shy), they greet and acknowledge everyone present in the room. It’s the kind of budding and youthful aura that can be expected from the duo. In fact, from their immediate chemistry on set, one might even think that Syafiq and Wen Wei have met. Instead, we spot with our eager eyes how they connected instantly as they exchange fun quips and banters while getting to know each other.

You see, both Wen Wei and Syafiq are here for Tommy Hilfiger‘s new TH Monogram collection — a line-up of pieces they both joyfully personify. Brought to life by famed designer Fergus Purcell for Fall 2022, the TH monogram collection is a new mark of distinction; symbolising Tommy Hilfiger’s continuous pursuit in design and flare. Evidently, 24-year-old style icon Syafiq and 19-year-old singer/content creator Wen Wei (also part of our The Z List Class of 2021) are splendid choices to don the collection.

Described as new statement makers, the pieces in Tommy Hilfiger’s TH Monogram collection are inspired by the American brand’s heritage and archives. With that, elegant and signature classics are now presented in more muted tones and plush textures. Popular artist and illustrator Fergus Purcell, known for his pop culture influenced aesthetics, took charge of reimagining Tommy Hilfiger’s visual identity. With that, Tommy Hilfiger’s codes, timeless and striking, can be seen throughout the latest ensemble.

From the hooded jackets and sweaters to logo tees and sneakers, the TH Monogram collection is quintessentially modern in design and presentation — one that resonates with demographics then and now. Tommy Hilfiger’s signature Burgundy, Navy, and White are now reflected on refined pieces rocking the interlocking T and H.

The pursuit of improvement and continuous advancement is something both Wen Wei and Syafiq identify with as urban creatives in the zeitgeist of today. “It’s fun to try different styles and find out what works for you best while at the same time staying true to your authentic self,” shares Syafiq. The social media personality acknowledges that, like the TH Monogram, fashion has no limits and boundaries. For him, it’s out with the traditional and time for the unconventional. He continues: “Being creative is a form of self expression that I carry with me every day. A wearable artistic composition, if I may”.

As an urban creative, 星 (Star) singer Wen Wei takes pride in her ability to be honest and vulnerable through songwriting and sharing her art with fellow music enthusiasts. Part of this is the constant need to better herself, a notion similar to the philosophy behind Tommy Hilfiger’s latest TH Monogram collection for Fall 2022.

“It’s a ripple effect especially with emotions. Through my pursuit of development, I feel good and I think that’s important because it affects the people around you,” she adds while donning her favourite from the collection, the TH Monogram Slim Fit Jumper in White.

However, that’s not to say that Wen Wei is rushing with her projects. Instead, she values taking things one step at a time, day by day. “I believe that it’s important to build things gradually,” Wen Wei answers. After all, just like Rome, Tommy Hilfiger — founded in 1985 — wasn’t built in a day either. Without a doubt, legacies take time to craft; apparent with the iconic brand in focus.

The TH Monogram celebrates Urban Creatives like Syafiq and Wen Wei, paying homage (or rather gratitude) to those who are all about honing and polishing their respective crafts. Through the ways they both effortlessly rock pieces from the collection, it’s no wonder they are the embodiment of the brand’s very ethos. Current, daring, and always ready to take things on, the cool duo sure knows what it takes to thrive in this fast-paced world we live in today.

An advice to stay optimistic as an urban creative, Syafiq states that: “It’s important not to limit yourself to what others say about you. I express my urban creativity through my love for fashion. It helps boost my mood and overall confidence”. He emphasises the priority of doing and wearing what makes one feel food about themselves. As for Wen Wei, it’s essential to stay grounded while still holding on to dreams and objectives. In the iconic mannerisms of Yoda, agree more, we can’t.
