British rock band Suede to hold first concert in KL this August

Legendary British rock band Suede is set to make their debut in KL this August, making it their first-ever concert in Malaysia.

Formed in London in 1989, Suede is recognised as a cornerstone of the Britpop movement, alongside other iconic bands such as Blur, Pulp, and Oasis. The band’s current lineup features singer Brett Anderson, guitarist Richard Oakes, bass player Mat Osman, drummer Simon Gilbert, and keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Neil Codling. Known for their electrifying live performances, the band continues to captivate audiences worldwide, showcasing an energy and stage presence that few can match.

Their journey to fame began with their eponymous debut album in 1993, which quickly became a critical and commercial success. The album injected new life into the UK indie music scene with its edgy sound and confident swagger. Over three decades later, Suede remains as iconic as ever. Despite a temporary disbandment in the early 2000s, the band made a remarkable comeback, releasing several outstanding albums that have solidified their legacy. Their youthful vigor and dynamic performances continue to impress, even putting many younger bands to shame.

Suede’s discography boasts a series of massive hits such as Metal Mickey, Animal Nitrate, Beautiful Ones, Trash, Saturday Night, and Filmstar. These songs have defined an era and contributed to the band’s significant success. Their notable albums include ‘Dog Man Star,’ ‘Coming Up,’ ‘Head Music,’ and ‘A New Morning.’

After their initial split, Suede reunited in 2010 and have since released albums ‘Bloodsports,’ ‘Night Thoughts,’ ‘The Blue Hour,’ and the critically acclaimed 2022 album ‘Autofiction.’ The latter debuted at number two on the UK album chart, marking their highest chart position since 1999.

Now, Suede is poised to set the stage ablaze with their first-ever performance in Malaysia at Zepp KL. This concert is part of their extensive global tour, which includes stops in various Asian cities such as China, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia. Last November, the band performed alongside Manic Street Preachers in Singapore.
