The album opens with a sunrise-like crescendo of orchestral and brass sections, setting a serene and majestic tone before the full band immerses themselves in the intricate melodies.

Over its expansive 71-minute runtime, ‘OATH’ meditates on themes of time and existence, encapsulating the essence of MONO’s sound with an added layer of elegance and introspection.

More about the Japanese rock band MONO

Founded in Japan at the end of 1999, MONO’s inception was marked by an ambitious blend of the moody, atmospheric qualities of bands like My Bloody Valentine and Mogwai with the timeless elegance of classical composers such as Beethoven and Morricone. Over two and a half decades, MONO has methodically honed their craft, creating music that demands patience and rewards listeners with profound depth and beauty.

Their twelfth album, ‘OATH’, released on 14 June 2024, encapsulates this journey. It’s a sweeping, orchestral masterpiece that resonates with the band’s signature climactic intensity while celebrating the simple, often overlooked blessings of life—like the warmth of the sun, the comfort of loved ones, and the everyday miracle of clean water. ‘OATH’ is a reflection on existence, offering a contemplative escape into MONO’s world of sound.

Join MONO this November in KL for a night of musical transcendence that promises to be both a celebration of their illustrious career and a glimpse into the boundless future of their artistry.
