Let every sip of Boulevardier take you on “A Journey Through Time” with The Macallan

Go on an adventure via the past, present and future with The Macallan’s “A Journey Through Time” — celebrating its 200th years of whisky-making.

2024 marks The Macallan’s 200th anniversary since its founding by Alexander Reid. The renowned distillery — officially started in 1824 — has long been adored for its single malt whiskies characterised the River Spey region. Since its inception, The Macallan has continued its commitment to innovate especially when it comes to being sustainable. For its bicentennial celebrations in Malaysia, the brand has something truly exciting planned.

The Macallan pays homage to its craftsmanship and heritage via “A Journey Through Time”. Created to recognise the distillery’s past, present and future, The Macallan has partnered with a myriad of bars throughout Malaysia. The bars, with their respective skills and creativity, will present their very own takes on the classic Boulevardier (said to first be created in the 1920s) — with the star of the show: the Double Cask range.

For the uninitiated, The Macallan’s Double Cask series comprises three single malt icons. They include the Double Cask 12 (40% ABV), Double Cask 15 (43% ABV) and Double Cask 18 (43% ABV). The Double Cask 12 can best be characterised by its sweet oak and creamy toffee notes whereas the Double Cask 15’s flavour profile comprises hints of raisin, nutmeg and vanilla. With the amber honey-hued Double Cask 18, on the other hand, expect candied citrus peel on the nose and toasted wood spice on the palate.

Hence, it is exactly these elements that make The Macallan’s Double Cask range the ideal single malt whiskies for the “A Journey Through Time” campaign. From 1 June to 31 July 2024, seven bars have been tapped to showcase specially curated Boulevardier cocktails. They consists of Astor Bar, Annabell KL, Remedy Cocktail Bar, Louie’s and Reka:Bar (Rob Roy instead of Boulevardier) in the Klang Valley; Backdoor Bodega in Penang; as well as Haiiro Usagi in Johor.

The cocktail flight is meant to allude to the The Macallan’s illustrious history while reflecting the distillery’s spirit of looking forward. So, if you’re ready to embark on an intriguing adventure with The Macallan — savouring the Boulevardier cocktail instilled with distinction, this two-month period is the time to do so.
