Everything you need to know about the upcoming Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2024 that’s running from 29 July to 4 August.
Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) returns for its 12th edition this year! The much-anticipated annual event — happening from 29 July to 4 August 2024 — will be held at the KLCC Park. Over 50 designers will be participating this time, showcasing their respective creations in a purpose-built structure (spanning 12,000 square feet) with the PETRONAS Twin Towers as its background. The public can also watch the runway shows live via a LED screen panel.
KLFW 2024 features many of Malaysia’s most prominent designers, including Alia Bastamam, Behati, Farah Khan, Fiziwoo, Kit Woo, Nurita Harith, Rizman Ruzaini and Syomirizwa Gupta among others. In addition, several brands will be stepping up to the fashion platform for the very first time. From youthful streetwear to elegant gowns, these entities will be making their debut with ample flair and finesse.
Akudesign
Show Date: 29 July 2024 (5.00PM)
Since releasing ‘JIWA ANAK SENI’, its debut collection, in 2009, Melaka-based label Akudesign has certainly come a long way. The brand — founded by Amirel Amen Anuar — flies high with ‘Wear With Pride’ as its motto; and has been an invaluable component to the Malaysian streetwear community. From graphic tees to statement accessories, there’s something for everyone at Akudesign. The clothing brand will be taking the stage on the first day of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2024.

Corak Clothing
Show Date: 29 July 2024 (5.00PM)
Founded by Ronnie Ooi, Corak Clothing is not one to shy away from prints and colours. Its lightweight garments are ideal for the Malaysian weather, comprising short-sleeved shirts and shorts. In addition to its flagship location at Central Market as well as Suria KLCC, Lot 10 and The Gardens Mall, Corak Clothing is also available at Singapore’s Scotts. It sure seems like the brand is about to bring a plethora of motifs to the runway!

Fuzana Mokhtaza
Show Date: 1 August 2024 (6.00PM)
While Fuzana Mokhtaza is no stranger to the Malaysian fashion scene, this year marks the designer’s inaugural participation at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week. Renowned for bespoke creations (especially when it comes to one-of-a-kind bridal pieces), the brand’s delicate designs allude to luxury, sophistication and authenticity. Undoubtedly, Fuzana Mokhtaza’s runway presentation is slated to be one of the most anticipated shows.

Ghostboy

Ghostboy is a local fashion brand at the forefront of shaping Malaysian youth culture. Since its inception by Cyii Cheng and David Han in 2020, the KL-based entity has always focused on promoting self-expression — with its bold designs. Ghostboy’s latest capsule collection, DEVOTION, offers edgy essentials from the Relic Baby Tee and Bubble Shorts to the Whip Pants and Gatherer Skirt. The brand is set to celebrate its fourth anniversary with the debut at KLFW 2024.

Larney

From its showroom in Ampang to its many boutiques across KL, Larney — which started in 2015 by Zuhurah Zaibidi— puts a contemporary twist to elegant wear. Combining its detail-oriented philosophy and quality craftsmanship, Larney’s vivacious designs are created to instill confidence in anyone who wears them. SHALS

Established by beloved content creator and style icon, Shalma Ainaa, SHALS is all about stylish comfort. Its sleek and versatile designs are crafted to be staples; be it dresses, oversized shirts, slippers or hand bags. Last year, the brand opened its first ever physical store at The Curve. After more than a decade running SHALS, Shalma Ainaa will soon be adding an all-new milestone to its history. This is as #SPESHALS as it gets!

Founded by Ridduan Ismail (or TTFGA), Tact — a new homegrown lifestyle brand — will soon be making a comfy splash on the runway of KLFW. Look forward to a loungewear collection with a modern twist such as glossy robes and satin shorts. There’s just so much excitement in the air!
