New watches in April 2024: Bell & Ross, TUDOR, Rado and more

In the month of April, we’re highlighting a range of watches that are sleek and stylish — as we enter yet another season of Watches & Wonders.

We’re back with another list of watches that are anticipated within the world of horology, especially as we approach the annual Watches & Wonders season. From a new black ceramic colourway by Bell & Ross to a fresh take on symbolism by Beaubleu with its Virtue collection (only recently arrived in Malaysia), here’s our roundup of some intriguing watches for April 2024!

Watches to keep an eye out for in April 2024:

Bell & Ross BR 05 Black Ceramic

Integrating ceramic into the Bell & Ross design is only natural — after all, ceramic has always been a key feature of aeronautics and space industries for as long as anyone can remember. Now for the first time, Bell & Ross has used it in its urban line along in its favourite colour, black. The new BR 05 Black Ceramic and BR 05 Skeleton Black Ceramic are finished with a satin polish, while the BR 05 Skeleton Black Lum Ceramic has a more matte finish in its case and bracelet — playing on the material’s ephemeral effect — no doubt taking on a sportier, resolutely graphic look. Encompassed within its 41mm ceramic case, the new BR 05 variant makes it look smaller and much sleeker, yet beholden to its power at the same time.

An Asia Pacific Exclusive, the Long Island Evolution Collection highlights all of the curves, angles and fine lines of the beloved original. The collection comprises three models: Triple Jumping Complication (numerical displays for the hours, minutes, and date in the Long Island Evolution Master Jumper and the first wristwatch to do so); Grand Tourbillon (featuring a cage of 20mm, with an all-black treatment); and Steadfast Classic (a three-hand model in a fully skeletonised design).

Marking TUDOR’s partnership with Inter Miami CF, the brand recently released the Black Bay Chrono “Pink”. Originally made together with Jay Chou, this new variant of the Black Bay Chrono highlights the daring spirit of TUDOR, right down to its pink dial. While still remaining faithful to the Black Bay aesthetic with its famous signature “Snowflake” hands, this version ensures optimum readability on its pink domed dial including two hollowed black sub-counters. The timepiece is fitted on a five-link stainless-steel bracelet with TUDOR “T-fit” rapid adjustment clasp.

Rado True Square x Kunihiko Special Edition

Rado first collaborated with the visionary Japanese fashion designer Kunihiko Morinaga back in 2017 to create a limited edition timepiece that blended the brand’s renowned mastery of materials with the colour-changing technology. Now, Rado and Morinaga have announced the release of their newest shared masterpiece: the Rado True Square x Kunihiko Morinaga Special Edition watch. Featuring a squarish polished black monobloc high-tech ceramic case and crown, the timepiece is enclosed within a PVD sandblasted titanium case back fitted and sapphire crystal with the metalised words that showcase its unique identity: KUNIHIKO MORINAGA SPECIAL EDITION. But of course, one of the watch’s most stunning elements is its transparent dial, which was given a photochromic treatment — in other words, it changes colour according to light.

Breitling Navitimer GMT and Automatic 41

In celebration of Breitling’s 140th anniversary, the Swiss luxury watchmaker honours its aviation icons with two new pared-down variants of the original chronograph: a GMT and a three-hand Automatic, each in a universally wearable 41-mm size. This time, the Navitimer omits the chronograph while still preserving a balanced dial composition. The central placement of the 24-hour scale on the GMT and the Automatic’s clean face is intact, ensuring that the intricate slide rule stands out. A notched bezel is also incorporated for a more contemporary look, and the watch is finished in alligator leather or bracelets with a seamless butterfly clasp offer comfort and convenience.
