Watches in March 2024: Rado, Girard-Perregaux and more

We’re back with another round-up of the latest offerings in the world of watches. This March, we’ve compiled a list comprising ‘forceful’ collaborations, stunning variants and special editions.

The month of March marks the beginning of Spring and new life and starting — and within the world of horology, March brings a world of contrasts made to spark up the imagination. From a new collaboration between CITIZEN and the iconic Godzilla to a diamond-set bezel variant of the classic 1975 Girard-Perregaux Laureato, there’s certainly more to these timepieces than meets the eye. Here’s our roundup of some investment-worthy watches for March 2024!

Watches to keep an eye out for in March 2024:

OMEGA Constellation Meteorite

Inspired by the movement of stars across the sky, the Constellation has always been among OMEGA’s shining collections. And this year, the brand carries on that ‘stellar’ theme with new variants of the timepiece featuring dials crafted from the Muonionalusta meteorite — also the oldest known meteorite on Earth at over 4.5 billion years old. The natural pattern of this ancient space matter makes it so that every slice is unique; in other words, no two dials are the same. Each watch within the collection reveals its own individual character — as does the wearer. The full Constellation Meteorite collection includes 20 models, with five in different size categories: 41mmCo-Axial Master Chronometer; 29mm Co-Axial Master Chronometer; 28mm; and 25mm.

CITIZEN PROMASTER Eco-Drive Professional Diver 300m Godzilla Collaboration

Aptly nicknamed ‘Ecozilla’ by fans, this limited-edition CITIZEN PROMASTER Professional Diver model is a special tribute to the world-famous Japanese monster. Godzilla turns 70 this year, and to celebrate, CITIZEN has crafted a timepiece with as tough an exterior as the iconic monster itself. The model is equipped with light-powered Eco-Drive and features a rugged design — its dial, case and bezel has a camouflage pattern inspired by Godzilla’s scaly skin, and you can find tiny Godzillas hidden within the pattern. Two dial variations are available: a black dial with the classic black and white image of Godzilla; and a dark red dial with Godzilla roaring in rage. The case back design also features Godzilla’s footprint, a feature that’s unique to this limited-edition model.

Rado True Round Open Heart

True to its name, the Rado True Round Open Heart is a model with a never-seen-before feature on its dial: a cutout that reveals the watch’s ‘beating heart’, protected by a dichroic sapphire crystal, making its colours shift alluringly so that every time you glance at the watch, it reveals a different view. This cutout is creatively crafted into the shape of an ‘8’ near the centre of the dial, the most fortuitous number, and also to mark the fact that the watch will be released in a limited edition of 888 pieces. From another angle, the ‘8’ cutout also looks like an infinity, expressing the endlessness of time and all things eternal. The Rado True Round Open Heart comes in four new interpretations: polished black case; plasma case; white high-tech ceramic case; and also a limited-edition model, polished white high-tech ceramic case with titanium and special engraving ‘LIMITED EDITION ONE OUT OF 888’. Each comes with rose gold-coloured hour and minute hands and applied indexes with white Super-LumiNova® along with a rose gold-coloured seconds hand.

Girard-Perregaux Laureato 38mm Copper Diamond Bezel

Following the debut of the Laureato 38mm Copper in 2022, Girard-Perregaux has unveiled a new version of the watch featuring a diamond-set bezel. With a copper-hued dial and embellished with Clous de Paris, this unique model shows off an array of shades depending on the light. And in its latest variant, the watch also has a circlet of diamonds gracing the bezel to frame the dial, giving it a glorious appearance while still remaining true to the legendary Laureato design since 1975. The Laureato’s octagonal bezel is set with 8 large stones at each corner, with smaller stones in between. The 56 diamonds in total toy with light, appearing colourless at first — but when rotated, the precious stones come alive in every shade of the electromagnetic spectrum. This sparkling effect is finished with the polished central links of its integrated bracelet, heightening the model’s overall lustre.
