Over the past few months, Swatch has been teasing a collab with the iconic comic character, Snoopy. Now, the beagle has finally landed on a Swatch X Omega MoonSwatch model!
Putting all rumours to bed, Swatch announced its latest addition to the fabled MoonSwatch lineup. Taking inspiration from the ‘Silver Snoopy’ Moonwatch by Omega, the new MoonSwatch Mission to the Moonphase piece integrates the beloved anthromorph from the Peanuts comic strip on one of the subdials.

What is Snoopy’s significance in Omega’s space-themed watches?
Omega’s name is rooted in space voyages. As a matter of fact, astronauts Neil Armstrong and Eugene ‘Buzz’ Aldrin wore the Speedmaster Professional on the Apollo 11 mission for the 1969 moonlanding. This is how the Speedmaster received the moniker of ‘Moonwatch’.
A year later, astronauts from NASA bestowed Omega with the ‘Silver Snoopy Award’, since a storyline of the Peanuts comic strip by Charles Schulz made Snoopy the ‘First Beagle on the Moon’.
In 2019, Omega chose this leaf from their watchmaking history to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission. In one of its Moonwatches, the brand introduced an embossed Snoopy medallion on the subdial at nine o’ clock.

Swatch has named its latest collaboration with Omega the ‘Mission to Moonphase’. The new timepiece comes in an all-white colour scheme to celebrate the full moon.
Like all the pieces in the MoonSwatch collection, this too, comes with a Bioceramic case, the Omega X Swatch branding, the iconic Speedmaster logo, the MoonSwatch logo, the glass construction and the hidden “S” integrated in the centre of the protective crystal.
While the watch itself sports a white colour, the chronograph’s seconds hands, subdial hands, all the markers and the brandings, and the tachymeter-scaled bezel are in black.
Snoopy, NASA’s safety ambassador since the 1960s, and his best friend Woodstock are seen nestling in the moon phase subdial at two o’ clock. The watch comes with a white VELCRO strap.
A peek into the functional elements and durability of the Swatch X Omega Snoopy MoonSwatch
The Swatch X Omega Snoopy MoonSwatch is a landmark for the former — this is the first time the watchmaker has integrated a moon phase with one of its chronograph. This subdial at two o’ clock shows the different lunar phases with the Peanuts characters lying comfortably on the celestial satellite.
As is the case with MoonSwatches, this model, too, comes with a Super-LumiNova coating on the hands (including the chronograph seconds hands) and the indexes. For context, the Super-LumiNova is a photoluminescent that offers visibility in the dark.
Swatch is known for its playful and funky approach to horological designs. In this case, they have put the Super-LumiNova to good use. A hidden quote from the Peanuts comic strip is revealed under UV light on the moon phase subdial that reads, “I can’t sleep without a night light!”
As opposed to most luxury watchmakers, Swatch equips the MoonSwatches with the quartz movement instead of mechanical movements. These battery-powered movements are more accurate than their mechanical counterparts. Furthermore, the Snoopy MoonSwatch is water resistant up to 30 metres.
