In less than 24 hours, the Paris Olympics is expected to attract a viewership numbering in the tens of millions across the globe as the Olympic Flame finally arrives in France’s capital and the Opening Ceremony makes its debut along the River Seine. Here’s how you can catch all the action from the comforts of your own home.

Held once every four years and taking place in one of Europe’s most longstanding cultural hubs, the 33rd iteration of the Olympic Games has already amassed a steady momentum of anticipation from fans, bolstered by efforts from Paris city officials to turn the French capital into a contemporary epicentre where athleticism and community intersect.

In Malaysia’s case, 26 athletes will be dispatched as part of the local contingent to compete in 11 different sporting events at the Paris Olympics. This will mark our country’s 17th appearance at the Summer Olympic Games since our debut as Malaya at the 1956 Melbourne Games almost 70 years ago.

If you’re looking forward to tuning into all of the sporting action from across the 19-day itinerary, we have you covered with a guide on how you can watch the Paris Olympics from the comfort of your own home.

The easiest and most convenient way to do so would be to tune into national broadcaster RTM’s official live broadcasts of the landmark event on its dedicated sports channel, Okey, which can be accessed on RTMKlik. A total of 578 hours of footage is expected to be available for free streaming for Malaysian viewers.

On the other hand, private broadcasting company Astro will also offer live telecasts of the Paris Olympics through a multi-platform system, chiefly aired on Astro Arena and Astro Arena 2 (channels 801 and 802). A series of dedicated channels will also cater to the many competitive sporting events happening concurrently on the Olympics schedule while offering analysis and breakdowns by industry pundits. Of course, this is assuming that you already have a paid subscription to Astro’s satellite television service.

UniFi broadband service subscribers who have access to its internet TV streaming services can also join in on the fun by watching the Games through the UniFi TV app, with the company serving as one of the latest official Olympics broadcasters. Expect a total of 17 channels to catch up to speed with the heart-racing action.

The Paris Olympics opening ceremony is expected to take place at precisely 1:25am on the 27th July 2024 for Malaysian viewers.
