A new gem just got added into the ever-intriguing world of sci-fi on OTT – Netflix’s new show Supacell.
Created by rapper and filmmaker Rapman, also known as Andrew Onwubolu, the six-episode series premiered on 27 June 2024. It narrates the story of five Black South Londoners who suddenly acquire superpowers and use them to save a girl’s life.
Supacell has already become a fan favourite, exploring several dark themes including knife crime, racial profiling and sickle cell disease (a blood disorder affecting tons of people in England).
People online are now rooting for a Supacell season 2 as they can’t wait to see what happens next in the lives of these rookie superheroes.
So, will there be a ‘Supacell’ season 2?
As of now, there is no official announcement on the renewal of the sci-fi show for a second season neither from the streamer nor the makers.
However, showrunner Rapman has teased the possibility of a Supacell season 2 in a Radio Times interview. “For the beginning of the show, I always tell everyone that season 1 of Supacell to me is like Batman Begins. It’s just beginning,” adding, “I’ve got a three-season story in my head.”
Well, considering the rave response that the show is getting from viewers and critics alike, Netflix is most likely to announce a renewal after factoring in the viewing figures.
Who could form the cast of ‘Supacell’ season 2?
As for who would be reprising their role in a possible second season, we hope to see all of the main cast back including, Tosin Cole as Michael Lasaki, Adelayo Adedayo as Dionne, Yasmin Monet Prince as Veronica, Eric Kofi-Abrefa as Andre, Calvin Demba as Rodney, Eddie Marsan as Ray and Nadine Mills as Sabrina.
There is also potential for some new characters to join the cast but there is no official information on that front as yet.

A potential second season of Supacell could delve deeper into the consequences of the characters’ newfound superpowers and how they navigate their lives with these abilities.
The first season focused on the impending prospect that Dionne (Adelayo Adedayo), Michael Lasaki’s (Tosin Cole) girlfriend, is going to die soon.
The debut season ended with a cliffhanger where Michael makes a desperate move to turn back time and save his friends during an intense fight with Krazy (Ghetts). However, by the end of the finale episode, Krazy manages to shoot Dionne through her car’s windshield, and Michael can’t rewind time again to save her. This left viewers to anticipate what may now happen in season 2 and if Dionne actually gets killed at the end.
So, season 2 can further focus on our superheroes grappling with their powers to save one another’s lives.
Do we have a potential release date for ‘Supacell’ season 2?
As season 2 of the show has not yet been greenlit, we can’t comment on the release date of the second instalment.
The same is true for the trailer or teaser of Supacell season 2. Fans would need to exercise patience for another year before they actually get to catch a glimpse of any video footage.
It is to be noted that the first season was filmed between July and December 2022 and the post-production took another year; so the trailer can only be expected sometime later in 2025 even if the makers speed up the production.
Meanwhile, ‘Supacell’ season 1 is currently airing on Netflix. Check out its trailer below:
