This is exactly what had transpired between Jimin of BTS and Song Da Eun, both of whom are allegedly in a relationship, despite threats of legal action against rumor-mongering fans. Here’s what we know so far of their purported romance.
Actress Song Da Eun — of the Heart Signal: Season 2, Dear My Room, and The Handmaiden fame — is a self-professed ARMY, the official name for the fandom of BTS. She’s also quite active on social media, often taking to Instagram to share tidbits of her life. However, this took a turn sometime in 2022 when netizens began piecing together a few pictures to link her to the boy group’s lead vocalist and main dancer Park Jimin. Although neither confirmed the rumours, they cropped up again recently — when a set of posts by Song were flagged as suggestive. Here’s a timeline of it all.

A viral post that started it all (June – July 2022)
According to several sources, the first rumour of Jimin and Song Da Eun dating first popped up in 2022 — when a now-deleted social media post pointing to 12-piece ‘evidence’ of the two being together went viral. It claimed that the two wore the same earrings on the same day, published Instagram stories on the same day just a few minutes apart, had mutual friends, and were interested in similar things. It also added that Song Da Eun had posted from a hotel in Jamsil during the last day of BTS’ concert in the region, amongst other ‘proofs.’ However, it’s only in 2023 that word of this alleged relationship is believed to have begun making the rounds on social media and the news.

As news mills began reporting the rumours, the actress responded with, “Please don’t ask me about a third person’s affairs,” according to a report by Korea Herald. She added that she was only a fan of BTS, thwarting speculations.

On 16 May, Song Da Eun posted an Instagram video of a man walking by a pier — an emoji superimposed to hide his identity. This, fans speculated, is the same spot as the one visited by the BTS singer in a 2020 video titled (Bangtan Bomb) A Boisterous Shooting Of “3J”. In addition to this, the actress posted a video in a living room that fans state is identical to that of Jimin’s — particularly the sofa and carpet. She was also spotted wearing a ‘Mic Drop’ t-shirt — believed to point to the BTS banger. To add fuel to the fire, Song posted a picture of two AirPod cases inscribed ‘Daeun’ and ‘Jimin.’
These posts were deleted after they went viral and had ARMY up in arms — concerns about this being a publicity stunt topping the comments. Later, the actress warned netizens of legal consequences. “If you don’t want to receive a postal notice asking you to come in for police investigation in a few days, apologise,” she said according to a report by Times Of India. She then added, “It’s your last chance from me.”
Meanwhile, Jimin — who enlisted in the military last December and is expected to be discharged in June 2025 — has not made any comments or clarifications.
