Angel, Nicole Tan and Syed Syafiq walk the talk as young, inspirational go-getters

In our recent fashion spread with Louis Vuitton, we have young go-getters Angel, Nicole Tan and Syed Syafiq talk about all things style alongside Louis Vuitton sneakers.

In an ever-changing world, fashion trends come and go — heavily manoeuvred by the advent of social media such as Instagram and TikTok. These days, we see Gen Zs at the forefront of the latest fads and looks; setting the benchmark for the way one dresses. They are young, ambitious and eager to thrive in their own ways. To put it simply, they walk the talk.

Such is the case with Malaysian personalities Angel, Nicole Tan and Syed Syafiq. Bursting with drive and determination, they have become the face of today’s youth for many reasons. From being an accomplished performer on stage to running a business to travelling the world, they each found respective ways to reach their goals.

This is not the first time we have worked with the enigmatic trio in the studio and it’s amazing to see how far they have come since. They arrive at the shoot with their affable personalities and admirable workmanship; ready to get their stride on. Throughout our brief time together, Angel, Nicole and Syafiq — decked completely in Louis Vuitton from head to toe — continue to show how driven they are.

Like the three personalities, Louis Vuitton’s sneaker game has evolved from the very beginning. In today’s zeitgeist, the Maison’s array of sneakers come in all kinds of designs suited for the contemporary eye. From the LV Trainer and LV Skate to LV Archlight and LV Rush sneakers, there are choices for everyone; spanning colours, silhouettes and materials.

In this fashion spread featuring Louis Vuitton sneakers, the three Gen Zs put their best foot forward as they collectively and individually unveil their charm. Everyone chooses to wear something different when they head out; something that makes them feel good and comfortable. For Syafiq, he usually opts for footwear that matches what he’s wearing (especially in terms of colour scheme). “They have to look good,” he declares.

Nicole, on the other hand, loves wearing sneakers because they can be worn to various occasions, stating: “They are very stylish and I put them on for brunch dates, dinners and more”. In addition to comfort, she also seeks out shoes with simple and minimal designs. As a performer, Angel moves on stage a lot and hence, requires something really comfy. “I dance for work and I have a decent amount of sneakers. They have to be very comfortable,” she tells us.

Many of us have vivid first memories of Louis Vuitton growing up, be it from seeing the brand in a magazine at a beauty saloon or strolling past the massive boutique at The Starhill in Kuala Lumpur. After all, the brand has always been synonymous with luxury and can be found on many wish lists. This year, Louis Vuitton opened the doors to its largest flagship store at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur — spanning three distinctive levels. In the boutique, you will find also find bespoke pieces by Malaysian artist Red Hongyi.

For 23-year-old DOLLA member Angel, hers began within her family. “My mother is a very big fan of Louis Vuitton. Growing up, she would buy bags from the brand and when I first made my own money,  I bought her one for her birthday,” she conveys. Angel adds that her connection to the brand stems from her love for her mother, saying: “Every time I hear Louis Vuitton, I always connect it to her”.

Nicole (or Nicaboo), a content creator, child psychologist and jewellery entrepreneur, lets us know that her initial memory of Louis Vuitton happened when she was only 18. “It was a birthday gift from my mother and it was something I wanted,” she expresses. It’s a Nano Speedy and yes, Nicole still cherishes the bag as much now as when she first received it.

As for jet-setter Syed Syafiq, he looks back to his high school days when he got his eyes set on a wallet. “Louis Vuitton has been my number one luxury brand and my first memory is getting a LV wallet for my birthday,” he mentions. Ever since then, Syafiq has worked his way towards adding more to his collection, one piece at a time.

Louis Vuitton — founded in 1854 — is a brand with a rich heritage. Luxurious, prestigious and aspirational, the Maison has been an iconic component to the world of fashion for the past 170 years; and its legacy continues to influence the modern zeitgeist. With the spirit of voyage so deeply intertwined in its ethos, there’s something surreal and beautiful about how the pieces continue to hold a special place in one’s heart — the memories and unforgettable moments as faithful companions from Gen Z and beyond.
